JOHN BALLAD PLAYED SOFTBALL FROM 1939-1958, A TOTAL OF
TWENTY (20) YEARS. HE SERVED FOUR (4) YEARS IN THE ARMED
SERVICE, AND IN 1945 HE PLAYED ON THE ARMY ALL-STAR TEAM.
JOHN PLAYED IN SEVEN (7) KENTUCKY STATE ASA CHAMPIONSHIP
TOURNAMENTS AND IN FOUR (4) ASA NATIONAL REGIONALS. HE
WAS AN EXCELLENT HITTER AND WON FOUR (4 BATTING
CHAMPIONSHIPS-THREE IN WOODLAND PARK AND ONE IN THE
FRANKFORT CAPITAL CITY LEAGUE.
JOHN'S LIFETIME BATTING AVERAGE WAS .362 WHICH IS VERY
GOOD PLAYING IN FAST PITCH. IN NINETEEN YEARS, HIS FIELDING
AVERAGE WAS 995. OVER A TWO-YEAR SEASON AGAINST CLASS
"A" PITCHING, HE STRUCK OUT ONLY TWO (2) TIMES. JOHN WAS A
GREAT TEAM PLAYER.
