A great hitter and able outfielder, Bud enjoyed a successful career that few have matched. He was a member of the one and only Kentucky Fastpitch team to win the National Championship Tournament which was played at Soldier Field, Chicago, in 1939. The game against Modesto, California, was a tight duel for 15 scoreless innings before Buddy Connor singled through third and scored on Roger Ferguson's triple to the left field fence.
