Weber, John

Louisville, Kentucky
There were really only three teams considered to be the best of the best in the Louisville metro area in the late 60's and
70's, and they were industrial giant, LG&E, plus Jessie's and the notorious Jiffy Club.
To be considered a great talent in the Derby City, it was almost a prerequisite to play on one of those three juggernauts,
and John Weber from Louisville was talented enough to have played on all three.
Weber's pitching kept hitters off guard while he was on the mound, and his mystical hands were used for other trickery
off of the diamond namely magic. Weber's magic tricks and lightheartedness in the dugout and in between games kept
his teammates "loose" in an otherwise tense environment among Louisville's many rivalry softball games.
At 18, John was already following in his father's (Monk Weber) footsteps by playing with LG&E and leading them to seven straight city and metro championships culminating in a world championship. His dad, Monk, who recently passed away and is a member of Kentucky's Softball Hall of Fame, introduced his son, John, to softball at the age of 10 when John became bat boy for his father's teams. From there, John fell in love with the game and played even into his later years--50's.
A few of John Weber's individual accomplishments include three All World teams, two ALL LIT selections, and a one- time feat of being named an ASA Star of Stars.
As Weber's career slowed a bit, he was still on a high enough level to be selected to the Kentucky Bourbons of the pro league as a backup pitcher and a player/coach.
Playing excellently with those historic Louisville softball teams such as LG&E, Jessie's, Jiffy, and the Kentucky Bourbons landed Mr. Weber in the Louisville Softball Hall of Fame and now the ultimate honor in the Kentucky Softball Hall of Fame.
