He first participated in ASA as a fast-pitch player in 1965, thereafter playing on teams that won four State Championships and were state Runners-Up seven times. He won the Pee Wee Cater Award as the Outstanding Player in the 1978 State Tournament.

He began his ASA umpiring career in 1980 and ended up officiating at all levels of play during his career.

He brought a unique and professional style of umpiring to the game as he worked in excess of forty different State Tournaments at levels ranging from A to D.

He has worked all the major tournaments in the area having called twenty-two Thoroughbred Classics, ten Lake Cumberland Classics, twelve Daniel Boone Classics, three Grand Slams, four Super Slams, and six ASA National Regionals.

At almost any given ballpark one can hear fans echoing Casey's one-of-a-kind strike call.
