JAMES REEVES GREATLY PROMOTED AND WAS ACTIVELY INVOLVED
IN SOFT BALL FOR 30 YEARS. BECAUSE OF HIS LOVE FOR FASTPITCH
SOFTBALL, HE DROVE FROM LANCASTER TO FRANKFORT FOR TWO
YEARS, 1949 - 1950, TO UMPIRE FASTPITCH GAMES FOR THE
CAPITAL CITY SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION.
HE SERVED AS COMMISSIONER FOR THE BLUEGRASS BASEBALL
LEAGUE FOR A SHORT PERIOD BUT RETURNED TO SOFTBALL WHEN
THE JAYCEE RECREATION PARK, WITH SOFTBALL FACILITIES, WAS
OPENED IN LANCASTER.
FROM 1961 - 1978, HE SERVED IN A DUAL ROLE AS TOURNAMENT
MANAGER AND SCOREKEEPER FOR A FOUR COUNTY AREA DISTRICT
AND REGIONAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT. JAMES WAS TOURNAMENT
MANAGER FOR THE 1984 FASTPITCH STATE TOURNAMENT HELD IN
LANCASTER.
HE WAS APPOINTED DEPUTY STATE ASA COMMISSIONER IN 1978.
