HE WAS A DISTRICT COMMISSIONER, STATE COMMISSIONER FOR JUNIOR OLYMPIC GIRLS AGE 12 AND UNDER, AND A PITCHER FOR FAST PITCH SOFTBALL. HE IS A MAN OF GOOD CHARACTER, RESPECTED IN HIS COMMUNITY, AND HAS MADE A GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO AMATEUR SOFTBALL.
HE STARTED PLAYING FAST PITCH IN 1935 AS A PITCHER PLAYING TWO GAMES ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. WHEN LIGHTED PARKS BECAME AVAILABLE, HE PITCHED FOUR NIGHTS A WEEK AND 2 GAMES ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. HE WON 66% OF HIS GAMES. FOR TWO YEARS IN THE EARLY 70’S, HE PITCHED WITH A TEAM 26 SUNDAYS EACH YEAR WITHOUT A LOSS.
HE ORGANIZED LEAGUES FOR MEN, WOMEN, JUNIOR OLYMPICS, AND CO-ED IN FIVE COUNTIES IN KENTUCKY, SUPERVISED MANY STATE TOURNAMENTS INCLUDING THE FIRST WOMEN’S CLASS C PLAYED IN KENTUCKY. IN HAS DEVOTED 48 YEARS OF HIS LIFE OF SOFTBALL.
