IN RECOGNITION OF OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AS A MANAGER OF SLOW PITCH SOFTBALL, TOMMIE’S ACHIEVEMENTS PROVIDE THE GOAL BY WHICH ALL KENTUCKY SOFTBALL MANAGERS SHALL FOREVER MEASURE THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
UNDER HIS ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT, HIS TEAMS WON THE ASA MEN’S STATE MAJOR SLOW PITCH CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 1975, 1978, 1980, 1981, 1983 AND 1984. THEY WERE ALSO NATIONAL REGIONAL CHAMPIONS IN 1975 AND 1984. FOR OVER A DECADE, HIS TEAMS COMPETED AND WON AGAINST THE VERY BEST TEAMS IN THE NATION. THE STARPATH TEAMS THAT HE HELPED MOLD AND MANAGE IN 1985, 1986 AND 1987 ROSE TO THE VERY TOP OF THE SOFTBALL WORLD THEY FINISHED IN 4TH PLACE IN THE 1985 ASA MAJOR SLOW PITCH NATIONALS, 5TH PLACE IN 1986, AND WERE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS IN 1987. TOMMIE BROOKS WAS ABLE TO GET HIS PLAYERS TO PERFORM AT 110% AND WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED FOR HIS ABILITY TO STRIKE FEAR IN THE HEART OF THE COMPETITION.
