MARSUE BURROUGHS SOFTBALL CAREER STARTED IN 1966 AND
CONTINUED THROUGH 1986. DURING THAT TIME, SHE PLAYED IN
SIX STATE MAJOR TOURNAMENTS, SIX NATIONAL REGIONAL
MAJOR TOURNAMENTS, AND SIX NATIONAL MAJOR
TOURNAMENTS.
THESE TEAMS WERE WINNERS OF THREE STATE AND ONE
NATIONAL REGIONAL TOURNAMENT.
MARSUE WON SIX M.V.P. AWARDS AND WAS NAMED TO THIRTEEN
ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAMS. IN 1971, SHE WAS NAMED FIRST TEAM
ALL -AMERICAN, AND IN 1976 WAS NAMED SECOND-TEAM ALL
AMERICAN. SHE WAS ALSO NAMED THE OUTSTANDING FEMALE
ATHLETE OF LEXINGTON IN 1979.
MARSUE HAS DEVOTED A GREAT AMOUNT OF TIME AND EFFORT TO
WOMEN'S SOFTBALL IN KENTUCKY. SHE HAS ALSO BECOME ONE OF
THE MOST OUTSTANDING FEMALE UMPIRES IN KENTUCKY AND
HAS SERVED AS A ROLE MODEL FOR MANY YOUNGER SOFTBALL
PLAYERS.
